Request songs by name, plus a load of fixes

Requests

  • Viewers can request songs by name now, like "!sr enter sandman by metallica". Word order, capitals, punctuation, accents and small typos don't matter
  • If it could be a few songs, the bot asks "Did you mean...?" and gives their IDs
  • When requests have to be from your list and nothing matches, the bot says so. You can change what it says on the Commands & replies page
  • Rather stick to song IDs? Turn off "Find songs by name" in Request settings

Your song list

  • Sort by least requested, so viewers can find the songs nobody has asked for yet
  • Sorting by most or least requested shows how many times each song has been requested
  • Fixed song lists showing no songs at all because of the charts picked in Request settings. Charts your current game doesn't have are ignored now
  • Songs with no chart details stay on your list when you limit which charts are shown
  • Took out the YARG chart choices no song has (most of Vocals and the top of Harmony)
  • The dropdown options are readable now

Song uploads

  • Uploads no longer fail when a file lists the same song twice
  • Or when a song has fancy Unicode letters or emoji in its details. They're turned into plain letters, or left out if there's no plain version
  • Replacing a song list now needs your private API key. The dashboard already uses it, so you only need to change something if you upload with your own tool

YouTube

  • The bot looks for your stream as soon as you get ready: when you load an overlay, open the dashboard or the Bot page, or press the new Check now button
  • The Bot page and the dashboard say whether you're live, and what's stopping the bot joining, like a private stream or chat being turned off
  • The dashboard has a Bot in chat row for each platform, so a YouTube bot that's on doesn't look off, and YouTube-only accounts can use it too
  • Replies no longer say @@name
  • Fixed Ouvert losing access to a relinked YouTube channel within the hour
  • Your linked channel's details are refreshed every day, and removed if you take away Ouvert's access in your Google account

Bot

  • On Twitch, when the bot is nearly full it leaves the channels that have been quiet longest, so turning it on for your channel works straight away. Channels active in the last day are never dropped

Apps

  • New Apps page showing off the Ouvert app and the Stream Deck plugin, with a demo queue moving along on a phone and a Stream Deck. Find it in the menu

The website

  • Dashboard pages in dark mode are dark from the start, with no flash of white as they load
  • Icons don't pop in after the page has loaded any more
  • Pages load a little faster
  • Bits of code on dashboard pages are readable in dark mode
  • Fixed an error that stopped scripts working on some pages, including Overlays

The big one! YouTube support, moderators, new overlays and loads more (it's a long list)

YouTube

  • Ouvert works with YouTube now! You can log in with YouTube as well as Twitch, from the new login page
  • Link your YouTube channel and OuvertBot joins your YouTube chat too, with the same commands as on Twitch
  • It spots when you go live on YouTube and joins your chat straight away, no waiting around
  • Streaming to Twitch and YouTube at the same time? Requests from both chats land in the same queue
  • YouTube has no /me, so the bot always sends normal messages there
  • YouTube limits how much a bot can do each day, so on really busy days the bot might stop replying to every request in YouTube chat. Your overlays still show them

Your account

  • New Connected accounts page: link your Twitch and YouTube accounts to the one Ouvert account, so they share a song list and queue, and log in with either
  • Unlink an account there too if you need to
  • You can delete your Ouvert account yourself from the same page

Moderators

  • Moderators are finally here! Add the people who help run your queue, on Twitch or YouTube
  • Your mods can run your queue from their own Ouvert login, so there's no need to share yours
  • Mods are matched by their account ID, so they keep access if they change their name

Overlays

  • New Request Alert overlay! It pops up whenever someone requests a song, with an optional chime, a few ways to come in, and a badge for priority requests
  • More new overlays: queue length, request rules, songs on hold, just played and now playing
  • Now Playing and Just Played can give the song title its own line, or fit everything on one line if you want a thinner strip
  • Long song titles scroll and fade out at the edges now, instead of getting cut off mid-letter
  • Miss the old slanted Request Queue? You can turn it back on, Up next and Later tilt and all
  • Every overlay gets its own colours, text size, background opacity, font and choice of what to show
  • All the overlays share the same card style now, with proper padding, rounded corners and one clean font
  • Not a fan of the default font? There are 13 others to pick from
  • Quick looks: one-click colour presets for every overlay. Made some colours you like? Save them as a quick look and use them on your other overlays
  • Overlay links use your Twitch ID now, so they won't break if you change your name. Your old links still work
  • Drag an overlay straight into OBS and it comes in at the right size
  • "Test this overlay in OBS" fills just that overlay with sample songs, using what's on the page even before you save, so you can line it up without waiting for chat
  • No more scrollbars or white backgrounds on overlays, even if a browser source's custom CSS gets wiped
  • The overlays page shows a live preview at the real size next to the settings, and the save button doesn't scroll away
  • Settings that don't apply get hidden, like the chime volume when the chime's off
  • Overlays pick up queue changes quicker and use less data
  • Text to speech reads each song out as it starts

Your song list

  • Your song list is a proper searchable library now, not a spreadsheet. One search box, and it filters as you type
  • Every song shows its full title, artist and details, with a request button right next to it
  • Sort by song, artist, most requested or recently added. Titles starting with brackets or quotes sort where you'd expect them to now
  • A strip along the top shows what's playing, whether requests are open and how busy the queue is, and it updates live when you open or close requests
  • Viewers can see where their own request is, and songs that are already queued are marked
  • Changed their mind? Viewers can take back a request that's still waiting with the Remove button
  • The Requests tab reads like a tracklist: what's playing, what's next, who asked for it and how long it is. The tab shows how many songs are in the queue too
  • Much nicer on a phone, and the search bar stays put as you scroll

Backgrounds

  • Four new backgrounds: Note Highway (notes rolling down a Clone Hero style highway), Synthwave, Stage Lights and Equalizer
  • Note Highway is the new default. If you were on Starry Night (the old default) you've been moved over, but you can switch back any time in Request settings
  • Six backgrounds weren't showing at all and just left a grey page: Connect, Bubbles, Snow, Night Sky, Full Moon and Fireflies. They're fixed, sorry about that one!
  • Toned down Bubbles, Snow, Night Sky and Full Moon so they don't fight with your song list, and the moon no longer fills the whole screen on a phone
  • Starry Night copes with you resizing the window or turning your phone
  • Your song list's panels let a little of the background show through
  • Backgrounds keep still if your device is set to reduce motion

The website

  • New home page! See which Ouvert channels are live, what's playing in their queue right now, and jump straight to their song list to request something
  • Freshened up the rest of the site to match (Features, Updates, FAQs, Setup and the legal pages), with a simpler menu at the top
  • Updates (this page!) is split up by year, so you don't have to scroll forever
  • Setup shows which steps you've done and what's next

Dashboard and queue

  • The dashboard shows what's playing and what's up next, live
  • Open or close requests, play the next or a random song, and connect the bot, all from the dashboard
  • Every song in the queue has a Play now button, even ones on hold
  • Copy your song list link in one click
  • New channels get a short getting-started checklist, which disappears once your first request comes in
  • The queue actually works on phones now, with the main buttons in a bar along the bottom
  • Clearing the queue asks you to tap twice, so you can't wipe it by accident

Bot

  • Commands & replies is one simpler page: a list of your commands with plain names, and each one opens in its own window
  • Replies show exactly how they'll look in chat, and there's an Insert menu for things like the song name or who requested it
  • You get a warning if two commands share the same trigger
  • !previous tells chat which song played last
  • Choose whether the bot replies with /me or as normal messages
  • New !random command: viewers request a random song from your list that isn't already in the queue
  • New !wrongsong command: viewers take back their newest request that's still waiting
  • New !queue command: says how many songs are waiting and roughly how long they'll take
  • New commands work straight away with their default triggers and replies, no need to save your bot settings first
  • Fixed the song list link the bot posts for channels where it was missing /u/

Request settings

  • Redesigned, and every option explains itself in plain English
  • Set the longest song allowed in minutes and seconds
  • Limit how often the same song can be requested (once an hour, say), so one favourite can't take over the stream
  • "Let viewers swap their request" only shows up when it applies
  • Fixed not being able to clear the charts shown on your song list

Priority requests

  • Rules read like sentences now, e.g. "When a raid brings at least 10 viewers, give the raider priority 3"
  • If someone already has a song waiting when they get priority, that song moves up, so they don't have to request again. You can turn this off
  • Each event type shows whether it's on and how many rules it has
  • Rules that could never match can't be saved by mistake
  • You get a confirmation when your priority settings save
  • Fixed some really old requests (from before priority existed) showing up as priority and jumping the queue

Fixes and security

  • Tightened up security on the bot's connection to Ouvert, and Twitch notifications are checked before we use them
  • Pages that don't exist now properly say so
  • Plus lots of smaller fixes for the bot and live updates

SEO and a bit of a website tidy-up

  • Lots of SEO work across the whole site, so Ouvert should turn up better on Google
  • Links to Ouvert get a proper preview now when you share them on Discord, Twitter and the like
  • Added a Features page
  • New layout for the Team page, with photos!
  • Rewrote the privacy policy and terms so they actually explain things, and keep up with current rules

Websocket server rewrite

  • Rewrote the websocket server (the bit that makes everything update live) from scratch, with security in mind this time
  • Web pages have to authenticate before they can connect to it
  • Rate limiting: 100 requests every 15 minutes per IP
  • The list of channels the bot is in gets saved to disk, so it survives a restart
  • Better logging and error handling
  • It shuts down cleanly now, instead of just dropping everything

2025

YARG and ScoreSpy support!

  • YARG (Yet Another Rhythm Game) is fully supported
  • So is ScoreSpy
  • For YARG, upload your song export and you're good to go
  • For ScoreSpy, turn it on from your ScoreSpy account
  • Both get their own song lists and requests, just like the other games
  • Each has its own upload page in the dashboard

Ouvert's on a CDN now!

  • Ouvert's files are served from a global CDN (Content Delivery Network)
  • Pages should load a lot faster if you're outside the UK
  • And a bit faster everywhere else too (hopefully)

GHTV Reloaded support!

  • Guitar Hero TV (GHTV) Reloaded is now supported
  • The GHTV song list is built in, so there's nothing to upload
  • Take GHTV requests just like any other game
  • GHTV has its own page in the dashboard for managing songs

2024

The mobile app is out!

  • Ouvert Mobile v1.0 is on Google Play and the App Store
  • Manage song requests from your phone instead of your PC
  • Check your queue, your active game and whether the bot's connected, wherever you are (more to come!)

Big behind-the-scenes changes (for the mobile and Stream Deck apps)

  • Reworked how the website and the backend talk to each other
  • This is what makes the mobile app and the Stream Deck app possible
  • Tidied up the API so it works across more platforms
  • Better authentication, and a new API token system
  • Heads up: the bot leaves every channel after this update, so you'll need to reconnect it
  • Your overlays might need a refresh (or a cache clear) afterwards

Mobile app early access

  • The mobile app is open for early access testing!
  • To start with you can manage your queue, your active game and the bot connection
  • There's a feedback channel for ideas and suggestions
  • Important: don't share your Private API token with your mods, there's no way to regenerate it yet

Priority redemptions fix

  • Fixed priority channel redemptions not picking up the right username
  • Priority redemptions keep track of who redeemed them properly now

  • Priority Requests can now be redeemed when Song Reqs are closed

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug stopping you from manually removing songs in the requests dashboard

  • Higher the weight, higher the priority (between 1 and 10)
  • Can be redeemed up to 1 hour before it expires
  • Will allow people to request multiple times even if there is a limit (allowing them to redeem before expiry)
  • Need any help or have any questions? Feel free to ask in discord!

  • Added a Rocksmith section to convert your CFSM exports within Ouvert, this will provide you a file to use inside the Clonehero section
  • Cleared up some visuals to make the backend less... bloated
  • Fixed a bug (hopefully) where the bot would fail to reconnect to channels properly

2021

New overlay: Request queue open/closed

API Rework... and so much more

  • To achieve this update, we had to completely overhaul our migrations scripts! Previously they only allowed for SQL scripts to be ran to modify the database, however this limited our ability to run any code, meaning we couldn't retroactively insert data or run functions against the dataset without a lot of workaround. Now? Now we can run SQL or code on a migration allowing more flexibility for future updates!
  • Because of this... We now have a completely overhauled REST API, ahearding to a more strict format and utilising API keys for each user. Each user will now have a Public and Private API key, the key differences being the endpoints they can access. This will become more clear once the docs have been finalised!
  • Code cleanup! We've completely removed the old song system from Ouvert and the code surrounding it (Sorry Legacy users, time to update!)
  • New Overlays page! There is now a dedicated page for all Overlays we have and will have. We've also added a new overlay: Queue!
  • Requests placed via the website (and overwrites) will now post in chat (with a [WEBSITE] prefix) so that those streamers who utilise chat for this have it there also, rather than JUST the requests dashboard!
  • Request History page! You will now find a history of all your requests (played and deleted). This is under Functionality -> Clonehero -> Request history.
  • New Dashboard stat! You will now notice a "Requests played" count allowing you to see just how many requests you've played!

Refactored song searching system JSON because someone *cough* Stubo *cough* has too many songs!

Fixed a bug with broken ordering of requests introduced with new features

Visual Updates

  • Fixed the front page visual issue
  • Updated the new live feature to be better on mobile
  • Updated the CloneHero dashboard to be cleaner

Live streamer list

  • Added a live streamer list to the frontpage, showcasing our users, allowing your discoverability to grow a little!
  • It shows streamers who are live right now and playing a supported game
  • To start with: Clone Hero, Guitar Hero III and Rocksmith 2014

Updates! But it's been so longgg!

  • Updates to the request system now allow us to store requests, meaning...
  • We can track all requests (from now on) that were made through the system! Allowing us to...
  • Add a new column to the requests table: Times Requested, showing the amount of times a song was requested! Which brings with it...
  • A new ordering option, allowing you to order songs by the number of times they were requested
  • Also, we've added a new "Timeframe Limiting" option to the settings page, this will allow you to limit the amount of requests in a certain timeframe, all made possible thanks to us now storing requests

2020

Fixed estimated timing issue

  • Fixed an issue displaying wrong times, caused by generic (non-strict) requests utilising milliseconds (as provided by CH) and our system utilising seconds.

Song Queue Length + URL options

  • Added in Song Length feature! Now you can see how many songs are left in your queue!
  • Updated Genre to be text based wildcard searching, now letting you see all genres like the search term rather than a specific one
  • Can also now hit "enter" to search, rather than clicking the button
  • Song length information now available to utilise in Search
  • Custom bot URL options (In Bot Settings)
  • Added command for random song request
  • Fixed a bug where you could request songs regardless of filtering via bot

  • Added "hold" and "delete" to the currently playing request, allowing for it to now be held
  • Massive rework to Text-To-Speech, now being a pop-up only, but allowing voice and volume options (plus a test button)

New backgrounds

  • Fixed a small bug with the new instrument system when no instruments selected and enable all unchecked
  • Fixed a small bug in the bot breaking current song command
  • Added 3 new public page backgrounds: Night Sky, Full Moon, Fireflies

Instrument Support!!!

  • Oops, another wipe of the Songs list and Master Song database! Please forgive me

  • Added a Latest Songs button to Songs page, to see newest songs since last JSON upload
  • Rearranged the Request settings in Dashboard to be more organised
  • Added in Instrument support, now available on the Dashboard
  • Also added in Max song length filtering, also available on the Dashboard

Bug Fixes / Updates

  • We discovered that the songs weren't sharing between users (as planned to reduce overhead) and have discovered in storing the "playlist" information from the JSON inefficient and pointless and causing comparison issues. We also found out that the implementation of instrument (which will come with the next CH update) was also causing comparison issues, this being due to the JSON not having this information yet, and thus having to provide it manually.
  • Modified new songs page to Dark Mode
  • Modified new songs page to be better modulated

  • Added in Request Text-To-Speech, available inside the Queue Dashboard, this must be toggled on to work. Alternatively, pop out the TTS window (uncheckmark the dashboard or you will have duplicate audio)
  • Updated FAQs
  • Fixed a few issues on the Bot Settings page
  • Added Bot IP to Whitelist on Firewall

Fixed bot duplication error.

Added in Holding of requests.

  • Added in Holding / Unholding of songs. This feature will allow you to hold a song and replace it back in queue where it should belong when you unhold
  • Updated Suggestions mode, now alphabetical and processes the queue based on the new order rather than song request order
  • Made sure the request list updates if Operation mode is changed
